Post-doctoral researcher at EML (III)
to investigate microbial processes relating to nuclear waste disposal
14.03.2017 - EML, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPDL), Lausanne (Switzerland)
The Environmental Microbiology Laboratory (EML) in the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, EPFL, is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to investigate microbial processes relating to nuclear waste disposal.
The project deals with investigating the role of indigenous microbes in producing and consuming gas (H2, CH4) as well as consuming organic compounds released by nuclear waste in geological repositories. This work is of practical importance for nuclear waste disposal. The work will include a combination of laboratory experiments and investigations in situ (in the Mt Terri underground laboratory).
