Centre of Excellence High-Performance Scientific Computing (HPSC TerrSys)

The centre's focus is on the simulation of water, energy and matter fluxes in the terrestrial system. Together with the associated Simulation Laboratory (SimLab TerrSys) and in close cooperation with the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), HPSC TerrSys provides the geoscientists of the ABC/J region with scientific and technical support for their research activities by means of its supercomputers.

Jülich Observatory for Cloud Evolution (JOYCE)

JOYCE provides a range of remote sensing spectrometers emitting in the EM spectrum from visible light to radiowaves. The instruments’ purpose is to characterize the properties of clouds, the diurnal cycle of water vapor, and turbulence in the lower troposphere. A special focus is on atmosphere-surface interaction and rain precipitation formation.
