The Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology invites applications as PhD Student (m/f) for Laser-induced Fluorescence. The position is included within the EIT Raw Materials Project inSPECTor, which aims on the development of an integrated Spectroscopy Sensor System for Laser-induced Fluorescence and Hyperspectral Imaging.

The position will be available from 1 August 2017. The employment contract is limited to three years. The regular weekly working time will be 75 % of the normal collectively agreed work hours under TVöD-Bund. The salary is based on the collective agreement TVöD-Bund. The place of work is Freiberg.


  • involvement in the development of an integrated spectroscopy sensor system for laser-induced fluorescence and hyperspectral imaging
  • specification of sample material with absorption and emission spectroscopy, evaluation of the data acquired with the sensor prototype and result implementation
  • linking the research component with the technical implementation developed by SME task partners
  • close collaboration with researchers at the TUBAF on luminescence spectroscopy and data processing routines and close collaboration with SME task partners Fl (Freiberg, Germany) and SPECIM (Oulu, Finland), including work stays and joint developments at the company
  • publication and presentations of results in international journals and at conferences
