AG Seismologie 2026: The German seismology community meets in Bensberg

The AG Seismologie meeting took place from 21 to 24 September 2026 at the Bensberg Earthquake Station of the University of Cologne. Around 75 participants attended. The Geoverbund ABC/J supported the meeting financially and with materials, and the German Geophysical Society (DGG) provided further financial support.
24 talks and 18 posters presented current work. Topics ranged from subsurface monitoring with ambient seismic noise and new findings from the earthquake swarm areas in the Eifel and Vogtland to measurements with fibre-optic cables (Distributed Acoustic Sensing) at the Bensberg test field and the Geothermal Living Lab Rhineland. Further contributions asked how quiet future underground laboratories in Lusatia and the Einstein Telescope will be, and covered the Doric temple of Segesta in Sicily and the LUNA Moon analogue facility in Cologne.
The meeting brought together researchers from universities, Helmholtz centres, and federal and state agencies.
