Geoverbund ABC/J Announces 2026 Research Award Winners

The Geoverbund ABC/J is pleased to announce the winners of this year's Research Award for Early Career Scientists. For the 16th time, outstanding, innovative, and interdisciplinary dissertations in the geosciences, completed at one of the member institutes, will be recognized. The award ceremony will take place on 26 June 2026 at the Universitätsclub Bonn.

2026 Award Winners

🥇 1st Place (€2,000) – Katharina Seeger (University of Cologne, Institute of Geography) Coasts at risk – Improving flood hazard and relative sea-level rise impact assessments in data-sparse coastal lowlands

🥈 2nd Place (€1,500) – Nils Eingrüber (University of Cologne, Institute of Geography) Investigation and comparison of heat mitigation potentials of climate change adaptation measures in urban areas between Cologne/Germany and Pune/India using the urban microclimate simulation model ENVI-met

🥉 3rd Place (€1,000) – Nikolaos Kaloterakis (Forschungszentrum Jülich, IBG-3) From Soil Legacy to Wheat Yield Decline: Studying the Plant-Soil Feedback Mechanisms in Wheat Rotations
