German Geosciences Olympiad 2025

Three pupils from North Rhine-Westphalia took part in the German Earth Science Olympiad today: Junzhe Yao, Michael Hahn (both CJD Christophorusschule Königswinter) and Bradley Schnieders (Gymnasium Antonianum, Geseke) completed the 90-minute test with geoscientific questions, e.g. from geology, mineralogy, geophysics and palaeontology.
The German Geosciences Olympiad is organised by the DVGeo umbrella organisation for the geosciences. It is also the national selection competition for the established International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO), for which the four most successful pupils in Germany from the German Earth Science Olympiad qualify.
The final round of the NRW students took place in the Geography Library of the University of Cologne and was organised for the first time by the Geoverbund ABC/J. We would like to thank the library team for the great location and their active support and wish Junzhe, Michael and Bradley every success!
