National Cooperations
In addition to a large number of collaborations between the member institutes, the Geoverbund ABC/J works at network level with the following partners, among others:
CESOC (Center for Earth System Observation and Computational Analysis) is a joint cooperation in research and teaching between the Universities of Bonn and Cologne and the Research Centre Jülich, which works closely with the ECMWF in Bonn, among others. The vision is to combine new algorithmic and AI/ML methods from mathematics and computer science with Earth and Earth system sciences and to combine novel observations with realistic modelling of the coupled Earth system to address the current challenges of global environmental change.
Geo.X is the research network of geosciences in Berlin and Potsdam. It connects Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Museum für Naturkunde, Technische Universität Berlin, Universität Potsdam, Alfred-Wegener-Institut (AWI), Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS e.V.) und the Deutsche GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ).

The Deutsche Allianz für Meeresforschung (DAM) is one of the world's largest marine research alliances. It was founded in 2019 together with the federal government and the northern German states of Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.
