Strategy Retreat of Geoverbund ABC/J at Gut Hungenbach

On October 6 and 7, 2025, the steering committee and representatives of Geoverbund ABC/J met at Gut Hungenbach in the Bergisches Land for a two-day strategy retreat.

Participants from the four partner institutions – RWTH Aachen University, University of Bonn, University of Cologne, and Forschungszentrum Jülich – discussed future joint research initiatives and explored new potential. The retreat aimed at further developing the strategic direction of the Geoverbund.

Each institution brought its specific competencies and strengths to bundle earth system science research in the region and advance it at the highest level. In addition to the technical discussions, the exchange among professors, scientific staff, and students contributed to valuable results – the diversity of perspectives proved particularly beneficial.

The results of the retreat will form the basis for implementing new joint research projects in the coming years.
